Manuel Moniz

Manuel Moniz, 89, of Milliken Blvd., Fall River, formerly of Swansea, a retired custodian, died Monday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Evelyn (Rua) Moniz.
Born in Tiverton, RI, he was a son of the late Manuel and Mary (Patricio) Moniz; he lived in Swansea for over 30 years before moving to Fall River. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during WW II. Mr. Moniz was employed for many years by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Susanne Medeiros of Swansea; three sons, Michael Moniz of Providence, Robert Moniz of Taunton and Steven Moniz of Rehoboth; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Marie Kavangalopas.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9:45 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. John of God Church, Somerset. Cremation to follow. Calling hours morning of funeral from 8:15-10:15 a.m. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
