Manuel Rodgers

April 6, 1918 — March 19, 2016

Manuel Rodgers, 97, formerly of Moorland St., passed away March 19th at his home at Clifton Independent Living. He was the husband of Sylvia (Martin) Rodgers for 69 years before her passing in 2007.
Born in Erie, PA, April 6, 1918. Mr. Rodgers Mr. Rodgers served his country during WW II driving a tank in "Patton's Army" Company C 26th Tank Batallion.
He had a lifelong interest in Democratic Politics and headed many political local and state campaigns for women and men in Fall River and was looking forward to the first woman president of the United States.
He retired as a Minimum Housing Inspector for the City of Fall River and was a licensed plumber.
He is survived by his four children, Warren Rodgers, Martin Rodgers, Sylvia Beverly Fournier and Nancy Rodgers Johnson; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his 6 siblings and leaves his dear sister Alice Rodrigues.
The family will be eternally grateful to Dr. Jose Monteiro and his staff as well as the loving and wonderful staff at Clifton where he was truly at home for the last 6 years.
Out of respect for his wishes funeral arrangements are private, cremation and burial at Hillside Cemetery in Tiverton at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory would be appreciated to the Recreation Fund at Clifton Independent Living, 444 Wilbur Ave., Somerset, MA 02725. Arrangements are by the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St.
