Manuel A. Silva

Manuel Antunes Silva, 86, of Fall River, passed away on April 12, 2023.

He was the husband of Altina Silva.

Born in Vilarinho Lousa, Portugal, he was the son of the late Antonio Ferreira Silva and Deolinda da Piedade Prata.

Prior to retiring, Manuel was a partner in the F.C. Construction Company. He was a member of the Massachusetts Laborers’ Union Local 385.  He was a long time member of Club Recreativo Vilarinhense and the Sporting Club of Portugal.  He was also a member of the Academica Club where he was known for cooking delicious chicken (churrasco) dinners.

Manuel loved rooting for his favorite soccer team, Sporting, gardening and caring for his grapevines from which he made his treasured wine.  Manuel most enjoyed sitting at the dinner table surrounded by his family.

Survivors include: his daughter Deolinda Silva and son in law Steven Arruda; his niece Tina Inacio, his nephew John Inacio, his great nephews Sebastian Inacio and Xavier Inacio.  He was the brother of the late Joaquim Ferreira Silva and the late Jose Ferreira Silva.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations in Manuel’s name to Southcoast Hospice, 200 Mill Road, Fairhaven, MA 02719.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 19, from 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM, from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St., Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
