Margaret (Medeiros) Ferreira, 73, of Fall River, passed away September 22, 2016 peacefully at home surrounded by her devoted family and loved ones. Margaret was born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, and was the daughter of the late Marianna Raposo and Jose Sousa Medeiros. In her passing, she joins her late beloved husband, Carlos Ferreira, with whom she shared a majority life with, and raised 2 children together, Elizabeth and Michael.

Margaret, as many immigrants at the time, moved to America in 1959 at the age of 16, with her family in search of a better future26 and aspirations for life opportunities. Shortly after arriving, she met and fell deeply in love with Carlos. For many years they had spent every waking minute together as they worked side by side at Anderson Little clothing manufacturing. She later worked at Catholic Memorial Nursing home in Fall River where she had made many long time friends.

Margaret is survived by her children, Elizabeth Magalhaes and spouse, Mark Magalhaes, Michael Ferreira and his spouse Magdalena Ferreira, dear sisters Maria Soares and Alda Brum, as well as by her brothers Dennis Medeiros, Jose Medeiros, and Oliver Souza. In her passing she joins her predeceased brother Antonio Medeiros. She was, and will remain always, the beloved grandmother to 5 grandchildren; Amanda, Zachary, and Alex Magalhaes as well as Emma and Madlen Ferreira. Her life was enriched by an extensive family which includes 20 nieces and nephews, all of which have played a special role in her life.

We invite Margaret's friends and family to celebrate her life together at Oliveira Funeral Home (215 Columbia St. Fall River). Visitation will be held on Sunday September 25th from 4pm-8pm.A funeral mass will be said on Monday September 26th at 9 am at Santo Christo Church (Columbia St. Fall River), followed by burial at her final resting place in Notre Dame Cemetery.
