Margaret Ann Furtado

Margaret Ann (Cordeiro) Furtado passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, surrounded by her loving family.

    Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Lionel S. and Deolinda R. (Rodrigues) Cordeiro. She was the former wife of James Furtado.

    Margaret lived a life filled with love, laughter, and simple joys. In her younger years, she enjoyed days at the beach and playing bingo. She had a deep love of music and especially delighted in going to see her former husband’s band perform. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she looked forward to decorating every year, creating a warm and festive home for her family. Above all else, Margaret was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured every moment spent with her family. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she found her greatest happiness in their company. She was a wonderful friend and was always willing to help others.

    She is survived by her children, Jennifer A. Foley and James Furtado, Jr.; her sister, Norma Gossic; her grandchildren, Kaitlin, Emma, Kevin, and Reagan; her great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Oaklynn; her dear friend and caretaker, Donna Leonard; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Peter Cordeiro, Leo Cordeiro, and Beverly Hiller.

    Family and friends are invited to visitation on Sunday, September 7th, from 4PM to 6PM at Oliveira Funeral Home, South Main Street Chapel, 2064 South Main Street, Fall River. Her funeral will be held on Monday, September 8th, at 9:00 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church, Fall River. Interment will follow in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
