Margaret "Peggy" (Souza) Bishop

Fall River

FALL RIVER… Margaret "Peggy" (Souza) Bishop, 93, of Fall River passed away July 6, 2022, at Catholic Memorial Home, in Fall River.

Born in Little Compton, RI, she was a daughter of the late John Phillip Souza Sr and Barbara (Rocha) Souza.

She leaves her longtime companion, Norman Casey, Sr. and his two children, Norman Casey, Jr. and Sue Ratier.

She is survived by her son Michael Bishop, of North Attleboro; her two daughters Janice Nolan and her husband Chris, of Glastonbury, CT, Brenda Bishop Azar and her husband Jim, of Tiverton, RI, and like a daughter, Linda Paiva, of CA.  She also leaves her 3 grandchildren, Coral Joy Stukus (Rob); Matthew Stukus (Yuanye); and Jessica Sweeney (Jared); 2 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Stukus; sister, Barbara “Dottie” Medeiros; and 3 brothers, Philip, Joseph, and Richard Souza; and many nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late John Souza, Mary “Beatrice” Rachel, Frances “Connie” Yelle, and Robert Souza; and former wife of Daniel S. Bishop.

Prior to retiring, Margaret was employed as a seamstress for many years, in Fall River.  She had a strong Faith that guided her throughout her life. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church/Good Shepherd Parish in Fall River. She deeply loved her family and was always in service to others.  She enjoyed dancing, music, the beach, cooking, puzzles, and spending time with her family.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff of Catholic Memorial Home for their kindness and compassionate care.

Wake respectfully omitted per her wishes and burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Fall River Food Pantry, 235 Nashua St., Fall River, MA, 02721 or your local food pantry or homeless shelter.
