Maria Francisca Carreiro

Maria Francisca (Cruz) Carreiro, 61, of Tiverton; died Wednesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Jose Jacinto Carreiro.

Born in Furnas, St. Michael Azores; she was the daughter of the late Jose Sousa Cruz and Maria Jose (Moniz) Cruz, she resided in Tiverton for most of her life.

Mrs. Carreiro worked as a machine operator for Bradley-Scott for over 25 years.

She was a communicant of Santo Christo Church and a member of the church choir. She was also a member of the Holy Rosary Society. She was also an active member of the Associacao Cultural Lusitania.

Besides her husband of 35 years, she is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Carreiro Movrich (husband Daniel) of Port Washington, WI; a son, Matthew Joseph Carreiro (wife Nicole), of Tiverton; a sister, Leonor Santos of Fall River; two brothers, Manuel Cruz and Jose Cruz both of Tiverton; a grandson, Zachary Matthew Carreiro and several nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was also the sister of the late Maria Jose Cruz.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home 215 Columbia St. followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:45 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 5 - 9 p.m.
