Maria L. Paiva

Maria L. (Medeiros) Paiva, 91, of Mulberry Street Fall River, passed away Sunday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Agostinho Paiva.

Born in Santo Antonio, St. Michael, Azores and raised in Capelas. She was the daughter of the late Deodato and Mariana (dos Santos) Medeiros; she resided in Fall River for the past 40 years.

She had worked as a stitcher in the local textile industry and was a member of Santo Christo Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Gabriela Rocha of Fall River; 2 sons, John David Paiva of Fall River and Thomas Paiva of Swansea; 2 sisters, Mariana Rego of Fall River and Ilda Rego of Fall River; a brother, Jose Medeiros of Fall River; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Teresa Coelho and sister of the late Jorgina Amarello, Deodato Medeiros and Joao Medeiros.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:45 from the Oliveira Funeral Home 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:45 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 5 - 9 p.m.
