Maria Libania Borges

FALL RIVER - Maria Libania (Pimentel) Borges, 87, of Mulberry St., Fall River, a retired garment worker, died Wednesday, September 20th at Catholic Memorial Home. She was the wife of the late Jaime M. Borges.
Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Pimentel Pinheiro and Libania Maria (Melo) Pimentel; she lived in Fall River since 1974. Mrs. Borges worked as a sewing machine operator for several years in the local garment industry. She was a member of Santo Christo Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Lucy Borges of Fall River; a son, Manuel Borges and his wife Rose of Middleboro, MA; a sister, Belmira Pimentel Medeiros of Toronto, Canada; two brothers, Nuno Pimentel of Westport and Afonso Pimentel of Fall River; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Norbert Borges.
Her funeral will be held Monday, September 25th at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church, Columbia St., Fall River. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Stafford Rd., Fall River. Calling hours Sunday 5-8 p.m.
