Maria Paiva

Maria (Bandarra) Paiva, 96, of Clifton Rehabilitative Nursing Center, Somerset, formerly of Fall River passed away Saturday at the center. She was the wife of the late Jose Paiva Gaspar.

Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores; a daughter of the late Jose Tavares and Maria Bandarra, she resided in Fall River for 54 years.

Mrs. Paiva was a homemaker and a longtime member of Santo Christo Church.

The family of Maria Paiva would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Clifton Rehabilitative Nursing Center for the loving care they provided to her.

She was the loving mother of Teresa Gaspar (husband Antone) of Tiverton, Maria Salsinha of Fall River, Connie Smith (husband Everett) of Fall River, Joseph Gaspar (wife Lucy) of Tiverton and Antonio Paiva (wife Mary) of Portsmouth; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 sisters, 3 brothers. She was also the mother-in-law of the late Antonio Salsinha.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Tuesday 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral Mass and interment are private. Arrangements by the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St.
