Maria J. Simoes

Maria J. (Mello) Simoes, 51, of Middle St., a former embroiderer, died Tuesday at St. Anne's hospital. She was the former wife of Paul J. Simoes. Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of Maria (Ferreira) Mello of Fall River and the late Jose C. Mello; she lived most of her life in Fall River and was a member of Santo Christo Church. Maria was formerly employed by Corporate Image Apparel.

Besides her former husband and mother, she is survived by a son, Koury R. Machado of Fall River; two daughters, Breanna L. Simoes and Jasmine A. Simoes, both of Fall River; a sister, Lisa Chasse (husband Paul) of Fall River; two brothers, Joe F. Mello (wife Christine) of Somerset and Silvino F. Mello (wife Linda) of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews.


Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 6-8 p.m
