Mariana Rego

Mariana (Medeiros) Rego, age 94, of Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away on May 1, 2026.

    She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Rego.

    Born in Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Deodato Medeiros and the late Mariana (Santos) Medeiros. She immigrated to the United States and had been a resident of Fall River since 1971.

    Mariana had a strong work ethic, spending ten years as an assembler for Precise Packaging in the perfume manufacturing industry, and previously working for many years as a machine operator at Bay Mfg. Outside of her professional life, she had a vibrant array of interests. Mariana loved fishing, camping, and taking fun trips to the casinos. She was an avid soccer fan and had a special passion for the outdoors. She loved gardening and took great pride in taking care of her plants. She also cherished her time going to the beach, where she would often gather periwinkles.

    She is survived by two sons, Jose Sousa and Abel Rego (wife Lisa); two daughters, Donna Ramos and Rosa DeCosta; one brother, Jose Demedeiros. She was also the sister of the late Lurdes Paiva, Hilda Rego, Georgina Amarelo, João Medeiros and Deodato Medeiros. She leaves behind a lasting legacy through her nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

    Her calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street, Fall River. 

    Her funeral will take place on Friday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Santo Christo Church. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
