Marie C. Mello

Marie C. (Furtado) Mello, 78, of Slade St., Fall River, died Monday at home. She was the wife of the late Joseph Mello.

Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late John and Sophie (Ferreira) Furtado; she was a lifelong resident of Fall River. She was a member of the former Our Lady of Angels Parish, now Good Shepherd Parish. Mrs. Mello worked as a floor lady at the former Chace Curtain and as a seamstress in the local garment industry.

She is survived by a son, Richard A. Mello of Lehigh Acres, FL; a daughter, Sharon Boyer of Onset, MA; a brother, John Furtado, Jr. of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Joseph Mello and the sister of the late Aileen Furtado.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Good Shepherd Parish. Committal prayers and interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation morning of service 8:30-9:30 a.m
