Mary Ida Monahan, age 83, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, passed away on August 1, 2026.
She was the beloved wife of Francis G. Monahan, who preceded her in death in 2023. Together they shared more than 60 years of marriage, building a life centered on family.
Mary was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, and was the daughter of Albert Howarth and Jeanette (St. Ours) Howarth.
During her working years, Mary was employed as a CNA in the healthcare industry. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Tiverton and was active in many clubs, often involving her children in those activities. While devoted to her family, she also enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including watching QVC and the Hallmark Channel.
Mary was a generous and giving person whose kindness touched the lives of countless people. She collected angels throughout her life, and those who knew her would agree that she was an angel on earth herself. Her warmth, compassion, and quiet acts of generosity will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her son, Gary Monahan and his wife, Kris; her daughter, Colleen Mae Monahan; her sister, Janet Valliere; her grandchildren, Nicholas Monahan, Camille Monahan, and Krystal Machado; her great-grandchildren, Adriana and Mason Machado; and several nieces and nephews.
