Ronald Briand

Ronald Briand, 86, of Westport Point, Massachusetts, passed away at the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home.

    He was the beloved husband of Joan E. (Franco) Briand.

    Born in Fall River, he was the son of Romeo Briand and Mary (Fargosa) Briand.

    Ronald dedicated 40 years to his career in law enforcement, retiring as a Sergeant with the Fall River Police Department (FRPD). A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he took every opportunity to travel throughout Europe during his time in the service. In his personal time, Ronald was a skilled woodworker who preferred crafting by hand without machinery, focusing on delicate wood crafting. He was an avid reader who loved crime novels, particularly those by James Patterson, and he always enjoyed socializing with his fellow police officers. A passionate fisherman, he often made his own lures and cherished the days he spent taking his grandchildren fishing. He also enjoyed leisurely rounds of golf.

    In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Leslie Provost and her husband Dan, Jodi Briand, Sean Botelho, and Lea Branco and her husband Jason. He also leaves behind his sister, Verna Lucey; his grandchildren, Tristen and Eliana Montalvo, Tabetha Botelho, Colin Roberts, Sarah Farias, and Brett Goulart; and a great-granddaughter, Cora Farias.

    A visitation will be held Sunday evening, August 30, 2026, from 5 – 8 PM at the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, MA.

    His funeral will follow the next day, Monday, August 31, at 9 AM at the Oliveira Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at Santo Christo Church. Interment will be private.
