Fall River

Rosemarie (Borges) Rego, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, after a long illness.

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was the beloved daughter of the late Antone and Emily (Amarello) Borges, and the devoted wife of the late Everett Rego.

A lifelong resident of the area, Rosemarie lived in the south end of Fall River for 82 years before moving to Somerset. She was a woman of deep faith and a communicant of The Good Shepherd Parish (formerly Our Lady of the Angels).

Rosemarie was a homemaker and a tireless caregiver who dedicated much of her life to helping her community. She worked for nearly two decades at The Arc of Greater Fall River and served as a home health aide. Following the passing of her husband, she completed training to become a Certified Nursing Assistant, and worked at Southpointe Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Even after her retirement, her giving spirit continued as she volunteered for several years as a recreation assistant in the facility's activities department. Outside of her work and community service, Rosemarie loved cheering on the New England Patriots.

She is survived by a loving and extended family, including her two daughters, Linda M. Palmer of Somerset, and Carolyn Soares of Somerset; two sons, Everett D. Rego of Somerset, and Michael J. Rego of Fall River; four grandchildren, Jillian Soares (Jesse Bartlett-Webber), Walter G. Palmer III, MD (Alison Bialecki, MD) of Newton, Brian E. Palmer, DPT (Sarah McCusker) of Barrington, RI, and Lauren Taylor (Matthew) of Fall River; and three great-granddaughters, Whitney Rose Palmer, Sloane Lidia Taylor, and Lucy Elizabeth Palmer. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her older brother, the late Alphonse Borges of Tiverton, RI.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Forever Paws Animal Shelter, 300 Lynwood Street, Fall River, MA 02721.

Her visitation will be held Friday, August 28, from 9 – 10:30 AM, at Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., Fall River, followed by a funeral mass at 11 AM at Good Shepherd Church, South Main St., Fall River. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
