Rui Carlos Gomes-Depina

Rui Carlos Gomes-Depina, 29, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 11, 2024.

    He leaves behind his wife and the love of his life, Justice Monique (Benjamin) Gomes-Depina. Rui found love and companionship in his wife and their bond was a testament to the love they shared.

    Born in Angola, he was a son of Cesar De Pina and Leopoldina Gomes.

    He resided in Fall River, where he touched the lives of many in his community. Rui's presence was characterized by a quiet strength that resonated with those fortunate enough to have known him. As the youngest in his family, he held a special place in the hearts of his mother, Leopoldina Gomes, and his brother, Hermenegildo Torres, whom he deeply admired. 

    His dedication to his work with mental health exemplified his compassion and desire to help others. Rui's commitment to caring for those in need left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the individuals he served. 

    In his free time, he enjoyed fixing cars, playing basketball, video games, and spending quality moments with his loved ones. His love for hip hop music, his cherished dog Cinnamon, and his unwavering support for family and friends were the cornerstones of his life.

    Along with his wife and parents, Rui is survived by his siblings Hermenegildo Torres, Wilson Depina, and Eddy Depina; his niece Zoe Torres; his nephews Herman and Hevan Torres; his mother-in-law Latoya Wright-Benjamin; his sister-in-law Azia Benjamin; his brother-in-law Elijah Benjamin; many more close family and friends.

    A visitation will be held Friday, November 22, 2024, from 5 – 8 PM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River.

    His funeral will be held the following day, Saturday, November 23, at 9 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St., Fall River. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
