Ruth B. Troia

Ruth B. Troia, 92, of Catholic Memorial Home, 2446 Highland Ave., formerly of Newhall St., a retired garment worker, died Friday, Aug. 26th at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph Troia.
Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Souza; she was a resident of Fall River for most of her life. Mrs. Troia worked as a seamstress for many years at the former Merritt Dress. She was a longtime member of the former St. Elizabeth's Church. She was a member of the former International Ladies Garment Workers Union, now UNITE and the Portuguese War Veterans Auxiliary.
She is survived by a son, Paul Troia and his wife Barbara of Tiverton, RI; a daughter-in-law, Joan Moniz Troia of Florida; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Michael Troia and the sister of the late Beatrice DeRosa, Mary Tarvis, Rose Tarvis, Laura Patenaude and Margaret Donalds.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Aug. 30th at 8:30 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Parish. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 6-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Catholic Memorial Home, 2446 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720.
