FALL RIVER - Sadie (Rogers) Amaral, 83, of Fall River, a retired city employee, died Thursday, October 13th at home. She was the wife of the late Norman L. Amaral.
Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late Michael C. and Sadie (Santos) Rogers; she was a lifelong resident of Fall River and a communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Tiverton. Mrs. Amaral worked for the Fall River Public Schools as a cafeteria worker at A.S. Letourneau School and as a garment worker at the former Har-Lee Mfg.
She is survived by a son, Michael J. Amaral, Sr. of Fall River; a brother, Sylvester Rogers of Tiverton, RI; three grandchildren, Christopher Norman Amaral, Michael Joseph Amaral, Jr. and Matthew Richard Amaral; two great-grandchildren, Jayden Norman Amaral and Emma Elizabeth Amaral; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Joseph Michael Amaral and Diane Lynn Amaral; and the sister of the late Manuel C. Rodgers.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, October 18th at 9 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, Judson St., Tiverton. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
