Silvestre Faria

Silvestre Faria, age 88, of Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away on October 3, 2026, at St. Anne's Hospital.

    He was the beloved husband of Maria de Fatima (Miranda) Faria.

    Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Antone Sousa Faria and the late Isabel Cateon Pereira.

    Silvestre spent his career working as a factory worker in a steel factory. He was deeply connected to his faith and community through his involvement with Santo Christo Church.

    In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, playing dominoes, and fishing with his sons. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

    In addition to his wife, he is survived by his nine children: Fatima Coloura, John Faria, Maria de Luz Medeiros, David Faria, Sonia dos Anjos, Helder Tavares, Natercia Tavares, Miron Faria, and Jose Faria. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by several siblings.

    His visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street, Fall River. His funeral will follow, with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Santo Christo Church in Fall River. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
