Fall River

Our beautiful son, Tristan Michael (Pettengill) Britton left this world far too soon at the age of 28. Born March 6, 1998 in Westerly, Rhode Island, Tristan lived most of his childhood in Colchester, CT, moving to Virginia Beach, VA, Charlestown, RI and later in Fall River, MA. His was a life that brought much joy and light to those who knew him. To remember him is to reflect on his passion to help others who may be in need, his amusing way of seeing things, and his deep love for family and friends.

Tristan was compassionate towards animals and volunteered to rescue wild life animals when he lived in Virginia. He was puppy trainer for Fidelco Guide Dogs in Bloomfield CT and had a deep love for his puppy Becca and later his own dog Betta. He liked to make beaded jewelry for his special friends. He had a passion for photography and the quiet power of sunsets. He documented nature and the world around him in his photography. He had skills with technology and was always willing to help anyone with his knowledge.

He was the kind of person who didn't just pass through life, but actively invested himself in the lives of those he encountered, offering help and kindness long after the initial meeting. As an Uber and Lyft driver he made many of these connections and friendships. While his 28 years with us feel far too short, the kindness he leaves behind continues to ripple outward through everyone who knew him.

He leaves behind his loving parents Michael and Tracy Pettengill of 2 W Spruce St, Charlestown, RI. He leaves behind many loving aunts and uncles including Peter and Mary Ellen Riccio of Southington CT, John Horsman and Nancy Mankiewicz of Spring Hill, Florida, Martin and Jane Horsman of Glastonbury CT, Harry and Rita Morse of South Kingston RI, Peter and Leellen Weis of Heath, MA, Kevin and Joann Pettengill of Winter Haven, Florida, Kirk and Sandy Pettengill of Lake Alfred, Florida. He is also survived by many loving cousins and second cousins and will be especially missed by his God Mother Kathryn Ziegler of Glastonbury, CT. He will also be missed by his special friend and partner, Justin Rocha of Fall River, Mass.

In lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to Animal Rescue Rhode Island (ARRI) dedicated to rescuing companion animals in need and the humane welfare of homeless animals.

A private memorial service will be held by the family.
