FALL RIVER… Abel Roies, 73, of Fall River passed away February 21, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
He was the loving husband of Patricia A. (Pankowski) Roies to whom he had been married for 43 years.
Born in Tiverton, RI, he was a son of the late Albert Sr. and Mary (Moniz) Roies.
Mr. Roies was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish in Fall River. He had worked for 20 years as a Custodian and Sexton for St. Stanislaus’ Church and School until his retirement in 2019, where he had received the Marian Medal. Prior to St. Stan’s, he had worked for about 20 years as a Parts Manager for Pearson Yachts in Portsmouth.
Abel was a former member of the St Theresa’s Church Choir, where he met his wife, and the House of Israel Prayer Group in Tiverton. He had enjoyed gardening, boating and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.
Along with his wife, survivors include his sons: Jason Roies of Somerset and Jonathan Roies (wife: Sarah) of Somerset; his granddaughters: Hannah, Madelyn and Gwen; his brother: Lawrence Roies of Tiverton; his sisters: Irene Deschenes (husband: Arthur) of Tiverton and Cynthia Dubreuil of Tiverton; several nieces and nephews and his beloved cat: M.J. He was the brother of the late Albert Roies, Jr.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday, February 26, 2021 at 10:30 Am from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St. Fall River, MA 02724 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Holy Trinity Parish, 951 Stafford Rd. Fall River. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Friday morning from 8:30 – 10:30, prior to Mass.
