Maria Conceicao (Costa) Carneiro

FALL RIVER… Maria Conceicao (Costa) Carneiro, 85, of Fall River passed away December 17, 2020 at St. Anne’s Hospital.

She was the loving wife of the late Antonio Carneiro to whom she was married for over 50 years.

Born in Ponta Garca, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Joao and Ana (da Roias) da Costa.

Mrs. was a communicant of Good Shepherd Parish. She had last worked as an Inspector for the former Bradley Scott and had previously worked for the former Bristol Knitting Mills. She was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed sewing and cooking Sunday lunch for her family. Above all else, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter: Louise Rego of Westport; her sons: Tony Carneiro of Fall River, John Carneiro of Somerset and Carlos Carneiro of Fall River; her sister: Maria Ana Achadinha of Fall River; her brothers: Duarte Costa of Acushnet and Joao Costa of St. Michael; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jose da Costa, Manuel da Costa, Antonio da Costa, Maria Rosa Carneiro and Clotilde Freitas.

The family of Maria would like to thank the staff at Catholic Memorial Home, for their care during the last 9 months, and the staff at St Anne’s Hospital.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 9:00 AM from Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St. Fall River, MA 02724 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Good Shepherd Parish, South Main St. Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 9 – 10:30 AM, prior to Mass.
