Martin V. Moniz

FALL RIVER…Martin V. Moniz, 83, of Fall River passed away May 22, 2021 at St. Anne’s Hospital, in Fall River surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Agueda (Carreiro) Moniz, to whom he had been married to for 59 years.

Born in Feteiras Do Sul, São Miguel, Açores, he was a son of the late Joao V. and Francelina (Oliveira) Moniz.

Mr. Moniz was employed as a Polisher at the former Copper Craft, where he worked for 20 years, before retiring. He was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church and member of the Santo Christo Committee. He enjoyed fishing, farming and spending time with his family.

Along with his wife, survivors include his daughters: Noemia (Amy) Vidinha and her husband Augusto, Mary Lou Ferreira and her husband Nascimento. both of Fall River, and Zelda Franco and her husband Tony of Somerset; his brothers: Gilberto Moniz (Odilia) and Joao Moniz (Idalina), brother in law: Joao Estrela all of Fall River; his grandchildren: Philip Vidinha and his wife Megan, Bryan Ferreira and partner Brittnie, Sevana Ferreira  and partner Jesse, Dante Franco, and Jayden Ferreira; his great-grandchildren: Alexis Ferreira, Kinsley Ferreira, Isla Vidinha, Lily Frias, and Leonie Vidinha; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Noelia Terceiro (Jose), Zulmira Santos (Luis) and Fatima Estrella who he enjoyed speaking to on the phone before her passing.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 8 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St. Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St., Fall River. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 – 8 PM.
