Mary J. (Amaral) Varao

Mary J. (Amaral) Varao, 65, of Fall River, passed away January 9, 2024 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the loving wife of John A. Varao.

Born in São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel G. DeAmaral and Elvira (Cavaco) DeAmaral.

Mary spent most of her professional life as a dedicated psychotherapist, committed to helping all her clients succeed. In Mary's freetime, she enjoyed reading, knitting, and gardening, but most of all, she loved travelling with her husband and family, making everlasting memories. She was dedicated to her family, especially her grandchildren who were the joy of her life.

Along with her husband of 47 years, she is survived by her children Derek Varao (wife Jacqueline) and Craig Varao; her brothers Pedro Amaral and Armando Amaral; her grandchildren Kailey, Harrison, Anthony, Maxwell, and Nicholas Varao, and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, January 16, at 9 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 9:20 AM. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Monday night from 4 - 7 PM.
