Olive (Travassos) Cote, 98, of Tiverton, RI, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4th, at home surrounded by her family and caregivers.
She was the loyal wife of the late Charles "Charlie" Edward Cote, the love of her life for 74 years, whom she fondly referred to as her rock.
Born in Fall River, in 1925 on Pine St, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Antonina Travassos.
Olive was a lifetime worker in the local garment industry as a machine operator and was a proud member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
Olive was a wonderful dancer, especially the waltz but she made it known that she only danced with her husband. She also enjoyed embroidery, sewing, spending time with her family, and loved traveling, whether camping or cruising. She would say, “Charlie, if you have the money, I have the time.”
She is survived by her daughters Joyce Cote and Brenda Cote and lovingly called Grammy by her granddaughter Sofia Cote Langton and four great grandchildren Wyntter Marrissa Munroe, Mellany Ann Munroe, Madison Olivia Langton, and Liam Charles Langton, and several adored nieces and nephews; She was the grandmother of the late Matthew David Munroe and predeceased by siblings Joseph, Georgianna, Mary, Almarinda, Elvira, James, Enrico, and Edmond
A visitation will be held Monday, October 16, from 9 - 11 AM, from the Oliveira Funeral Home - South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main St, Fall River, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM, in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
