FALL RIVER… Richard A. Mello, Sr., 64, of Fall River, MA, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Charlton Memorial Hospital.

Born in Benton County, WA, Richard was son of the late Joseph and Marie (Furtado) Mello.

Richard was known to his friends and family by many names, including “Rick”, “Mel”, and “Manny”.  He had a long and varied career working as a Master Pipefitter at Electric Boat and a  Car Salesman for Silver City.  He then attended  NEIT to further his education to become a Cameraman for local news Channel 6.  He was a also a Cameraman for Fox 64 for broadcasts including the "Bozo Show"; he also filmed several local sports and music events.  He then returned to plumbing with Gem Plumbing.

He was a former member of Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth, RI as well as a former season ticket holder for the New England Patriots.

Richard loved his family and his dogs. Richard was an extremely talented musician, playing the guitar, drums and piano. In his younger days he loved being part of the local music scene and played lead guitar for a number of bands. He was also a proud cancer survivor.

Survivors include his son, Richard A. Mello, II of Fall River, MA; his daughter, Sheri L. Mello and his two grandchildren, Kyra and Sam of Somerset, MA; his sister, Sharon Boyer of Onset, MA; his nephew, Todd Rogers and his children Tyler, Kyla and K.C.; his niece, Erica and her son Ryan; and his nephew Spencer.  He was predeceased by his brother the late Joseph Mello. Richard was also survived by his ex-wife and friend, Patty Frezza and his beloved Bull Mastiffs, Dozer and Tank.

A Celebration of Life for Rick is being planned with a future date to be determined.
